Young Exhibition of Art POKOJE 2025
November 15–23, 2025, 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Opening: November 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM
Venue: Na Poříčí 14, Praha 1
POKOJE is a unique young art exhibition that connects students from Czech and international art universities and creates a space for international collaboration. Each studio or student collective is given one room in an empty building in the center of Prague, which they transform into their own site-specific installation. This format allows not only experimentation with exhibition approaches outside the traditional gallery framework, but also a confrontation of different artistic disciplines and methods of working with space. POKOJE thus functions as a platform for exploring the possibilities of contemporary artistic creation as well as a space for dialogue among the emerging generation of artists.
The theme of power, which framed the Pokoje 2025 exhibition, might have seemed traditional and often explored. However, the approach of young emerging artists was unconventional – it was neither normative nor straightforward. Their installations conveyed vulnerability, pressure, and doubt, yet they approached the theme sensitively, often intuitively and abstractly. They did not merely attempt to determine who holds power and who does not. Rather, they asked how it manifested, how it was perceived, and how it transformed in everyday interpersonal situations as well as within broader social structures.
Across more than thirty installations, power manifested on multiple levels – from personal experiences of social pressure to interpersonal relationships and ecological, media, or political structures. There was often an effort to control nature, as well as to reflect the influence of institutions and political decisions on everyday life. Social aspects also resonated strongly – the power of a group over an individual or within a family, the power of tradition, language, or imagery that shapes our daily experiences and perceptions.
